Festivities and weddings are all about enjoying with family and friend, and also indulging in our favourite foods. But, instead of going overboard, it’s always wise to stick by a few tips and be a little mindful of what you consume to keep track of your fitness journey. Wondering how?

Certified nutritionist Aanchal Sogani took to Instagram to share a few pointers that we all can keep in mind to stay away from binge eating and gaining weight during the festivitiesTake a look at what Sogani had suggested:

Choose healthier options

Instead of high-calorie foods, opt for low-calorie sweets like rasogulla or sandesh.

Before you get to any event, have a plan in place for what you will eat. Dr Mita Saha, consultant diabetologist, Global Hospitals, Mumbai, said one should limit their intake of fats, sugars, and salt, and keep an eye on their carb intake. “Opt for smaller meals throughout the day. To ensure your diet remains balanced and nutritious while also helping manage your diabetes, talk to your doctor or dietician as well. Also note – don’t compensate for over-indulgence by skipping a meal, as this can lead to blood sugar fluctuations,” said Dr Saha.

Stay hydrated

Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. This will also help you avoid overeating, said Sogani. Agreed cosmetic dermatologist Dr Akriti Gupta, Jivisha Clinic, Yamuna Vihar, New Delhi and mentioned, “Consume water all day long. Water will keep you energised, prevent illnesses, and prevent heat exhaustion.”

Dr Shobha Gupta, medical director, and gynecologist from Mother’s Lap IVF Centre, New Delhi and Vrindavan further added that one can begin their day with some lemon water. “Start your day with a glass of lemon detox water in the morning, followed by clean and healthy food,” she said.
