Socialist Party declares first list

Socialist Party (India),which is fighting the civic polls under the leadership of former mayor Bhai Vaidya,on Monday declared its first candidate list.

The party has also called upon youth,women and representatives of slumdwellers to seek candidature and fight elections on the party ticket.

Sudhir Nirfarake and Varsha Gupte (Ward No. 58),P N V Krishnan (Ward No 39) Manoj Mane (Ward No. 61),Prakash Chitre (Ward 71) will fight on the Social Party tickets,declared Abhijit Vaidya,chief of Party’s youth front.

“Though the Socialist Party has always been a party of the working class,slumdwellers oppressed and poor communities,now we are trying to attract highly educated youths into the party fold. That’s why we are calling upon young men,women,with high qualifications to fight election from the party,” said Abhijit Vaidya.

He said their leader Bhai Vaidya had,in his tenure as the Pune mayor,undertaken many anti-corruption crusades and was the first mayor to court against the emergency.

“All the big political parties are busy exhibiting money and muscle power and polls are being fought by using black money. In this background,the Socialist party will award the candidature to socially active,ambitious and highly educated volunteers with clear character from the working class community,” said Vaidya. He said those interested should contact the city leadership.
