Bar code system to track answer sheets from March examinations

The Minister for Higher and Technical Education Rajesh Tope has assured that the bar code system for tracking students answer-sheets will be introduced from forthcoming University of Punes March 2013 examinations.
Replying to a starred question raised by Congress MLC Mohan Joshi regarding poor functioning of the examination department during the ongoing budget session of the State Legislature on Friday,Tope gave a firm assurance on introducing the reform. The demand for introducing bar code system has been long pending.
A few years ago,the university had formed a special panel to recommend ways for implementing the system.
The bar code system (putting bar codes on the answer sheets) will keep answer sheets free from tampering. It will ensure fair and smooth assessment of answer-sheets, said Joshi.
