Man kills 56-year-old in Gamdevi over verbal spat

On Tuesday Jadhav was found dead on the footpath with an injury to his head. His body was moved to a government hospital for autopsy.

Gamdevi police on Tuesday arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly killing a 56-year-old man by hitting him with a blunt object over a verbal spat. The deceased has been identified as Atmaram Jadhav, who resided on the footpath of ML Dahanukar Marg.

On Tuesday Jadhav was found dead on the footpath with an injury to his head. His body was moved to a government hospital for autopsy. After doctors indicated it looked like a case of murder, the Gamdevi police on the complaint of the brother of the deceased, registered a murder case against an unknown accused.

During investigation with the help of information received from locals and with the help of the technical investigation, police managed to trace the accused on Tuesday.

Police arrested Vedprakash Mishra, 41, for allegedly killing Jadhav. A preliminary probe revealed that on Monday night he had a heated argument with Jadhav over some petty issue. During the argument Mishra got very angry and struck Jadhav with a blunt object and escaped from the scene, said a police officer.

The police are in process of identifying witnesses and also checking if any CCTV camera captured the incident.
Mishra has been booked under section 103 (murder) or Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
