A 54-year-old police constable was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making indecent remarks at a minor girl in Hussainganj police station area. Accused Shiv Kumar Awasthi,who is posted in the security of a businessman,was severely beaten up by a group of people before being taken into custody. Awasthi was granted bail Thursday.
Hussainganj station house officer R P Yadav said an FIR has been lodged against Awasthi under IPC 354 on the complaint of the girls father,a resident of Chhitwapur in Hussainganj.
According to police,the girl,a student of class 6 at City Montessori School,told his father that she had been stopped by the constable when she was coming home from school on Wednesday afternoon and asked inappropriate questions.
Police said Awasthi was beaten up by the locals after he allegedly passed a lewd comment on another girl from the same locality on Wednesday evening.
