A man travelling from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is receiving backlash after complaining of being fined for slow driving. In a Reddit post, the man shared that he was driving at the speed of 110-115 kmph in the second lane and received eight fines in total.
A man shared a screenshot of the fines he received, claiming he was unaware of the rule that fines commuters for driving below the speed limit and blocking faster vehicles. He expressed that he did not receive any notification about the fines until he returned to Dubai. Additionally, he appealed for assistance from others due to his financial constraints.
“I was not aware of this rule and there was not flash in the camera. I was totally unaware of this rule of fine for slightly slow driving nowhere was it mentioned in the signs. And i travelled to abudhabi in the morning and returned at night. There was no notification till i reached home. Had there been any notification of fine for the morning drive i would have been careful while driving back to Dubai. I know its my mistake but fining without any notification or any news article this is totally unfair,” the user wrote.

Several users slammed the user for being “ignorant”. A user wrote, “Honestly deserved mate, theres multiple signs saying that theres a minimum speed limit on the speed lane. If youre gonna drive slow drive on the other lanes…”
Another user commented, “I wish you no ill will, but good. People need to stop driving in the fast lane at less than the max limit.”
“Brilliant! There should be more fines for people like you,” a third user reacted.
