Elderly women bikers complete high-altitude rise to Nathula Pass, share challenging experience in video: ‘history in motion’

A group of women bikers from Bengaluru completed a thrilling high-altitude expedition to Nathula Pass, proving that age is no barrier to adventure. The experience, documented in a now-viral video shared by the group CRF Women on Wheels, has since gone viral and is winning hearts on social media.

The ride began in Bengaluru and took riders through parts of Sikkim, Nepal, and Bhutan, with Nathula Pass, near the India-China border, as one of the key high-altitude destinations. Among the riders were Seema Chechi, her elderly mother, and fellow bikers Swapna, Anitha, and Sesha.

Throughout the expedition, the women braved harsh terrain, extreme weather, physical exhaustion, and the demands of riding at high altitude.

“From the streets of Bangalore to the heights of the China Border – Nathula Pass, this journey is more than just miles covered… It’s history in motion. The CRF Women on Wheels team has successfully reached Nathula Pass, standing strong at one of the highest and most iconic borders of India. A moment filled with pride, emotion, and countless untold struggles behind the scenes,” the group wrote in the Instagram caption.

The post further highlighted the challenges faced along the way. “Every kilometer challenged comfort zones. Every altitude tested strength. Yet the team rode on — together, determined, and unbreakable. This is CRF Women’s International Ride — where women cross borders, redefine limits, and inspire the next generation to believe that no destination is unreachable.”

The video quickly gained traction, with several social media users hailing the women riders. “I feel so happy to see you guys,” a user wrote. “Old women are achieving those great things, what a precious moments…proudly can say age is just a numbers,” another user commented.
