As senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi recently asked Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar a pointed question – “What advice Prashant Kishor has given to the Bihar CM in last four months?”, the BJP leader raises a valid question on role and importance of Kishor, who was appointed advisor (policy and programme implementation), Bihar CM, has been entrusted with task of monitoring progress of Bihar Vikas Mission, a government body that clubs several ministries’ flagship schemes.
Everyone by now knows the importance of Kishor in the political scheme of things, especially his role in shaping Grand Alliance’s resounding win in 2015 Bihar Assembly elections. But one is still waiting to know his role and importance in shaping government policies and speeding up programme implementation. Though eminent people like Mangla Prasad and Pawan Verma got roles of agriculture and cultural advisor respectively to Bihar government, Kishor went a notch up to become advisor to the Bihar CM.
BJP has also been asking about the much-awaited government report on people’s feedback through the state government’s TV-laced rath yatras to show the government’s achievements and seek public response just a few months before last Assembly polls. BJP had called it JD(U) campaign at the “government expense” with Kishor playing a pivotal role in it.
JD(U) finds it tough to explain Kishor’s absence from Bihar against BJP’s attack. It is anyone’s guess that Kishor was given the Bihar job to make one realise his importance for Nitish Kumar, who wants to keep his key poll man interested in Bihar and his grand national interest for Mission 2019. But what the CM and his men cannot explain is utility of the man with an official tag as the CM’s advisor. Or else, one can safely make a guess that Prashant Kishor is one of two key men in Nitish Kumar’s coterie along with JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP RCP Singh.
