Actor Satish Shah on why Mughal-E-Azam teaches him something every time he watches it
I was very young when I first watched Mughal-E-Azam at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai. I was too young to understand the film but its grandeur made a big impact on me. As I watched and studied the film over the years,I fell in love with the entire project, which was made with total sincerity. Till now I must have watched the film almost 60 times. Every time I see it,I enjoy it as if I am watching it for the first time. I dont think I will ever get tired of it.
Unfortunately,I did not get a chance to do something like that in my career but one thing that I learnt from this film is that one doesnt need to study from an institute to make a mark in the film industry.
K Asif did a fantastic job despite not taking any formal training in film-making. I think the film itself is a full-fledged school in terms of acting,film-making,screenplay and everything else related to the world of cinema. The making, the imagination, the dialogues is quite a statement in itself. Its phenomenal how the message gets across the viewers in a subtle way. I have the DVD of film, the colour version. I still watch the movie as and when I get some free time.
