Boxing title for Shahpur Jat
Hosts Shahpur Jat Boxing Club clinched the men8217;s title in the 21st Delhi State Boxing Championshp beating defending champions Nationl Stadium by one point. The women8217;s team championship went to Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium while the sub-junior team championship was won by National Stadium Red. Ajay Choudhary of National Stadium and Sushma of JN Stadium were adjudged the best boxers of the meet in the men8217;s and women8217;s categories, respectively.

Sat Pal impressive
Fine all-round display by Sat Pal Yadav 43 and 4 for 18 and Mayank Jain8217;s useful 31 powered Ramjas Senior Secondary School No. 2 to a 40-run win over SBM Senior Secondary School Moti Nagar in the semi-final of the Zone-16 School Sports and Activities Board match at Ramjas ground. In another match of junior section, Ramjas Senior Secondary School No. 2 beat Ramjas Public School by 160 runs. Shekar Giri 100 was the top scorer for the winners.

Sandeep Jakhar8217;s all-round display 28 and 2 for 27 enabled KN Colts Academy defeat Ajmal Khan Coaching Centre by 32 runs in the league match of the Shaheed Smriti tournament for Kargil Cup at Rani Bagh ground. Ayush Mohan 35 and Joginder 32 were the main scorers for the winners while Javed 40 was the top scorer for the losers.

An unbeaten knock by Padamjit 55 and fine spell by Sonu Sharma 4 for 21 helped Gurgaon District Cricket team beat Sonepat District team by nine wickets and enter the semi-final of the Pataudi Trophy tournament organised by Haryana Cricket Association at Nehru Stadium Gurgaon.

Bishambar honoured
Olympian wrestler Bishambar Singh has been honoured by West Bengal Government with the title of national professor8217; for his contribution to the promotion of wrestling in the country. Earlier personalities who have been similarly honoured in the past include Mother Teresa and cricketer Mohd Azharuddin. The bronze medal winner in the 1967 world wrestling championships, Bishambar has been honoured with the Arjuna Award and the Railways had also given him the prestigeous Yash Bharati award.
