Only three teams Services,Railways and Delhi lined up for the 4x200m free style relay event for men on Thursday....

Only three teams Services,Railways and Delhi lined up for the 4x200m free style relay event for men on Thursday. It was not different in the 4x200m relay for women,where swimmers from Andhra Pradesh,Karnataka and Delhi took up their positions at the starting platform. With all the teams assured of medals,the only interest left in the event was who won what.

For the record,the Karnataka women Subha Chittranjan,Sneha T,Sushaka Pratap and Pooja R Alva took the first place,finishing almost a minute ahead of Delhi,followed by Andhra Pradesh. In contrast,the mens relay,was closely fought,with RSPB taking the gold with a combined timing of 08:36:40. SSCB came second,followed by Delhi.

Overall,Karnataka dominated by grabbing five gold medals. Gagan AP won gold in 1500m free style,while Pooja R Alva grabbed the first position in 400m individual medley. Fariha Khan took another gold for Karnataka in 100m back stroke,while Subha Chittaranjan claimed the first spot in 100m butterfly event.

Also winning on Thursday were,Sandeep Sejwal of RSPB,who won the 100m back stroke and Maharashtras Veerdhawal Khade,who took gold medals in 100m free style and 100m butterfly.
