Anti-oxidant therapy meet

A two day conference on anti-oxidant therapy is being held in Mumbai since Thursday. Experts on the subject will speak about the role of anti-oxidants in revolutionising treatment techniques.

Explaining the concept, Dr KG Nair, eminent physician said a diet rich in carrots, tomatoes, citrus fruits, dark green leaves, salads and fish is highly beneficial. And though olive, refined mustard and corn oil are good in moderate quantities, refrying food in any oil is harmful, he pointed out.Anti oxidants are protective both in heart disease and in the early stages of cancer, liver damage, Alzheimer8217;s disease and other degenerative disorders. And during the next decade, a number of anti oxidants will be available, some ofwhich can be actually targeted at specific tissues so that their protective ability can be increased, he added.
