The ship for the proposed Yamuna cruise service has set out for the national capital from Mumbai and is expected to arrive in the next two to three days, Delhi Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra said on Tuesday.
The vessel, Mishra told PTI, is being transported by rail from Mumbai and is part of the Delhi government's Yamuna cruise project slated for inauguration in February.
The proposed service will operate along an eight-kilometre stretch of the Yamuna: from Sonia Vihar near Wazirabad Barrage to Jagatpur near Shani Temple. — PTI
Aiming to protect vulnerable populations across the capital amid the prevailing cold, the Delhi government has directed Anganwadi centres to ensure warm clothing for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, and conduct indoor activities for children to safeguard their health.
The Women and Child Development Department on Friday directed all district officers to ensure strict implementation of the Winter Action Plan at every Anganwadi centre in view of the harsh conditions, and stressed the need to protect children, besides pregnant and lactating women.

The Delhi Police has begun a probe into the allegation of verbal and physical assault on an employee of the Polytechnic of Jamia Millia Islamia by a faculty member, the force said on Tuesday. No allegation of conversion, however, has been made, as claimed on social media, it said.
The varsity dismissed the assault allegation and the social media video as "doctored." A complaint was filed on Monday by an employee of the institute in southeast Delhi's Okhla area against an associate professor of the Civil Engineering department, a statement of the police read. — PTI

A Delhi court has acquitted a man accused of attempting to kill a youth by stabbing him during a brawl in northeast Delhi in 2022, saying that the prosecution failed to prove the case against him beyond a reasonable doubt.

The Centre's pollution watchdog on Tuesday revoked curbs under Stage-4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR as the capital's air quality improved.
In an order, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) said that actions under Stage-1, 2 and 3 of the revised GRAP will, however, remain in force.
The Delhi government has received more than 1000 applications under its recently launched scheme providing financial assistance of Rs 6000 to the caretaker of persons with benchmark disabilities requiring high support.
Under the scheme run by the Social Welfare Department, an amount of Rs 6,000 per month will be provided to the caregiver of a person with disability who requires intensive support for daily activities, in addition to any existing assistance provided under other disability welfare programmes. "Around 1200 applications have been received by the department so far and these are currently under verification as per the eligibility criteria laid down in the scheme," an official told PTI.
An 18-year-old youth has been arrested for allegedly stabbing a tutor who had been sexually assaulting his 14-year-old friend for the past six months, police said on Tuesday.
According to police, Devraj alias Jaggu, carried out the attack on Jay Prakash (32), which the boy had planned. They staged the attack as robbery and took Prakash's mobile phone and some cash, police said. — PTI

Management (CAQM) on Saturday reinvoked Stage-IV measures under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
"Keeping in view the prevailing trend of air quality and relevant factors and in an effort to prevent further deterioration of air quality in the region, the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP unanimously decides to invoke all actions as envisaged under Stage-IV of the extant GRAP - 'Severe+' Air Quality (DELHI AQI > 450), with immediate effect, in the entire NCR, as a proactive measure. This is in addition to the actions under Stages I, II & III of the extant GRAP already in force in NCR," the order from the CAQM read.
The order further added, "NCR Pollution Control Boards and other agencies concerned have been asked to escalate the preventive measures to prevent further deterioration of air quality in the region." With severe pollution, cold wave and dense fog persisting, authorities have urged citizens to limit outdoor activities, follow health advisories, and take precautions against the hazardous air quality.
A thick blanket of smog engulfed several parts of the national capital on Monday morning, sharply reducing visibility and worsening air quality across Delhi-NCR, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 418, falling in the 'severe' category.
According to the data released by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the ITO area was recorded at 434, placing it in the "severe" category. Similar conditions prevailed near Rafi Marg, where the AQI stood at 417, while areas around the Swaminarayan Akshardham temple in Pandav Nagar reported an AQI of 455.
