Roshni tries a DIY skincare hack (Source: Roshni Chopra/Instagram)Roshni Chopra regularly posts a plethora of effective lifestyle hacks spanning fashion, food, travel, and home decor with her followers. In a similar vein, the actor-influencer recently tried the viral banana peel facial trend and shared her review of the experience.
“It works,” she exclaimed, adding that there’s a reason the banana peel facial went viral. “You just have to try it and thank me later.”
But, how did she do it? “You can use any banana peel – I used an extra ripe one (left it in the freezer for an hour and then cut it into pieces to massage on the face). Leave on for 10 minutes and wash off to glow like a light,” she elaborated.
In the video, Roshni can be seen massaging her face with a frozen banana peel. “It is so soothing and makes the skin brighter and hydrated,” she said, adding that she is “obsessed” with this DIY skincare trend.
Dr Navya Handa, dermatologist, cosmetologist and laser surgeon, Primus Super Speciality Hospital, said that the trending banana peel facial is a DIY skincare technique where the inner side of a banana peel is gently massaged on the face for a few minutes.
Rubbing banana peel on your face is believed to offer skin benefits as banana is rich in nutrients such as potassium, vitamin C, and silica, the expert said. “These components are assumed to stimulate collagen production, which can rejuvenate skin cells. Banana peels also offer hydration, exfoliation, wrinkle reduction, and improved skin tone. However, it is advisable to consult a dermatologist before trying DIY remedies,” she said.

Dr Handa shared the following steps:
*Start by washing your face with a mild cleanser and drying it gently.
*Now take a small portion of banana peel and rub its inner side on the targeted area of your face.
*Let it sit for 10 minutes and then rinse using lukewarm water.
*Following this routine twice daily for a minimum of 10 days is claimed to produce noticeable results.
While this viral trend claims to offer several skincare benefits, Dr Handa advised individuals with sensitive skin to avoid using banana peel facials. “This is because the amines in the fruit can lead to skin issues like inflammation, rashes, itching, and even infections,” she said.
She concluded by advising everyone to consult a dermatologist before incorporating banana peels or any DIY fruit facial into their skincare routine to ensure their skin’s safety.
