While it’s essential to follow healthy practices — both, diet and lifestyle — throughout the day, mornings are extra crucial as they set the tone for the entire day. Right from what you eat to the physical and mental activities you indulge in, all that you do in the first few hours after waking up plays a significant role. So what does Aditi Rao Hydari do as part of her morning routine?

Aditi Rao Hydari is team ‘all-natural’ for her skincare routine. She revealed that using her kitchen concoctions and ghar-ke-nuske is what keeps her skin glowing. Watch the video to know how you can finally impress your dentist by incorporating ‘oil-pulling‘ into your morning routine,” read the description of a video posted by Tweak India on YouTube.

Opening up about how she pampers her skin, Aditi revealed that she is a “big believer” in kitchen remedies. “It changes according to the weather. I try not to use soap. I use more natural powders and concoctions, depending on what I am feeling like. I also love face oils and I know that most people say that you shouldn’t use them during the day but sometimes, I do and then slap on some sunscreen,” she said.

On being asked if she follows any traditional rituals in the morning, the actor said that her day starts with oil pulling. “Basically, you take a spoonful of a good quality cold-pressed oil and swirl it around in the mouth. It takes a little while to get used to this since it’s quite tiring and you can get bored. But, hang in there. A dentist once told me that your teeth are very good,” she revealed.

As for breakfast, she swears by bullet coffee — black coffee with butter or ghee and coconut oil — to get her through “a 15-hour day with a lot of people around me”. She added that she usually skips breakfast unless she’s in a city like Chennai or Hyderabad where she can get idlis easily. “In that case, I eat rather vast quantities of idlis but, otherwise, it’s bullet coffee followed by lunch in the afternoon.”

Further revealing her diet preferences, Aditi said that she is a “chutney girl” and also a “pudi and ghee girl” when it comes to eating idlis.

Talking about supplements, she said, “When I am shooting, I am better and there’s a routine. When I am not shooting, all my supplements are forgotten. I take basic supplements like vitamin C, especially when I am shooting for long hours.”

How does she stay fit? “My workout involves running away from a workout,” she hilariously quipped. “When I am being good, I do yoga. But, I am mostly not being good. Actually, I am really good while working – I eat correctly, I put everything right on my face, etc. But when I am on a holiday, I give myself a break. I also feel that sometimes your body needs a break. I keep telling myself, ‘It’s fine that I don’t exercise that often because then I give my body a jolt when I do. And, it immediately responds’.”

Adding that she likes “sporty stuff”, Aditi continued, “There was a time when I used to sprint on the beach. I don’t like going to a gym.”

She also opened up about a habit she would like to adopt in her morning routine. “Meditation. Not yet. Maybe I’ll get to it,” Aditi said, adding that she hates her habit of looking at her phone first thing in the morning. “That’s horrible. I want to break that habit and I am consciously trying to break that. I put my phone on aeroplane mode at night and try not to look at it till natural light hits my eyes. Scrolling on your phone is like a black hole,” she said.
