Shilpa Shetty Kundra loves food and trying different dishes and recipes. The Dhadkan actor, also an entrepreneur, recently admitted that her popular Sunday binge series on Instagram was started to prove to people that she does, in fact, eat. “I started doing those Sunday binges because people thought I didn’t eat. I was like, you can eat everything in life as long as there is discipline and a balance. I keep using the word balance. To prove to people that I eat, I started doing it. And I also work out,” Shilpa said on Khaane Main Kya Hai on YouTube.

Kanikka Malhotra, a consultant dietitian and certified diabetes educator, said having a cheat meal once a week is not only okay, it can actually be good for you, both physically and mentally.
“If you’re eating healthy most of the time, that occasional indulgence can satisfy cravings, help you avoid feeling deprived, and make your healthy habits more sustainable in the long run,” said Malhotra.
Scientifically, a cheat meal can boost your metabolism by influencing hunger hormones like leptin and ghrelin, which may help your body burn calories more efficiently. “The key is to enjoy your cheat meal mindfully: try to have it earlier in the day when your body’s calorie-burning power is at its peak, and keep an eye on portion sizes so you don’t go overboard,” said Malhotra.
Remember, it’s about balance—one cheat meal a week won’t derail your progress, but frequent indulgences might, added Malhotra.
Most importantly, don’t let guilt creep in. “Food is meant to be enjoyed, and treating yourself occasionally can actually help you stay on track with your goals. So go ahead, savour that treat, and get right back to your healthy routine—your body and mind will thank you,” said Malhotra.
