Here is the latest of the Railways’ initiative to keep the platforms clean. The Pune Railway division has introduced Control Disposal Toilet System (CDTS) on Pune-Howrah Duronto Express.

An innovative technique, the system blocks the release of toilet waste when the train is standing on the station thus reducing the dirt on the tracks and keeping them clean. And despite the fact that the system has been put in place, the Railway administration has also appealed to the passengers not to use the toilets when the train is stopping at stations.

“This is one of the initiatives to keep the tracks and the stations clean. Despite many appeals, passengers seem to be using the toilets when the train is halting. This system ensures that the toilet waste is released only when the train is off the station thus keeping the station clean,” said one of the officials of the Railways. The administration plans to launch the system on all the trains leaving the Pune station in near future.
