Sunday evening was one of pride for those who attended this awards ceremony at the Residency Club. At the Pune’s Pride Awards,2012,S B Mujumdar,founder of the Symbiosis International University,received the lifetime achievement award at the hands of chief guest Supriya Sule,and member of parliament,and actor Shekhar Suman. The award ceremony also marked the 21st anniversary celebrations of Residency Club. “Pune is no longer the city which I used to know a few decades back. It has become like any other metro but has retained the talent of Puneites. They are great achievers,” said Suman. Activist Babasaheb Pandurang Adhav was felicitated for his excellence in social work. S S Thigale,director of Symbiosis SPA ,was honoured for his outstanding contribution to the field of sports and its promotion. Satish Magar,president of Maharashtra-Pune Metro chapter of Confederation of Real Estate Developers Association of India (CREDAI),was honoured for excellence in the field of infrastructure. Vasant Gowariker,former scientific advisor to the Prime Minister and a pioneering scientist in rocket-fuel technology,was awarded for excellence in education. Actor Subodh Bhave received the excellence in arts and culture award,while Santosh Ostwal,manufacturer of wireless automation for irrigation systems and technology in the rural sector,was awarded for his innovative excellence in formulating Nano Ganesh,a mobile-based remote controller and monitor for water pumps.
