Trying to save son,Deonar man electrocuted

A 30-year-old man was electrocuted on Tuesday night in Gautam Nagar,Deonar,after he touched an iron staircase which reportedly had power passing through it.

A 30-year-old man was electrocuted on Tuesday night in Gautam Nagar,Deonar,after he touched an iron staircase which reportedly had power passing through it. Police said he was trying to save his son who had accidentally received a shock from it.

The Deonar police registered a case of accidental death and are awaiting a report from Reliance Energy to ascertain what caused the leakage of power. Police have detained a man who is reportedly involved in the power theft mafia.

“The victim,Akbar Sheikh (30),a computer mechanic,had reportedly heard his child crying outside the house. His child had touched a metal staircase . Realising that the child suffered a shock,he tried to move the kid away with a bamboo stick. However,he lost his balance and came in contact with the staircase. The child,was saved. Sheikh’s sister Shamim who tried to rescue him suffered injuries. Sheikh was rushed to a hospital,but was declared dead,” said senior inspector Tukaram Bhalerao of the Deonar police station.
