The state Council for Higher Secondary Education has decided to introduce a seven-point indirect grading system.
Onkar Sadhan Adhikari,the president of WBCHSE,said the teachers union have agreed that the new grading will bring more balance in evaluation.
Representatives of the Board said they have forwarded the proposal to the government and if they receive a green signal,the grading can begin from the next examination.
The WBCHSE has an indirect grading system,where grades are displayed along with marks in report card.
The Board of Secondary Education has also a seven-point grading system. With this,the two boards have brought parity in their evaluating system.
Representatives of the WBCHSE said they are also changing the academic calender,so more classes can be held in an academic year.
Teachers protest
Teachers belonging to the association of Part-Time Teachers of Universities and Colleges in West Bengal gheraoed state higher education minister Sudarshan Roychowdhury on Wednesday.
The teachers who were protesting against the non-implementation of salary hike and other facilities promised as per the government order on September 21 in front of Bikash Bhavan forced their way to the ministers chamber. A few months ago,the government had announced that they will be allowed to work till age 60 and receive a salary commensurate with seniority.
