Howrah engineer abducted
Kolkata:An engineer and a resident of Shibpur in Howrah district has been reportedly abducted late on Thursday. After Amaresh Manna,who supervises installation of mobile towers in the area,did not return from the site Thursday,his family members lodged a complaint with the local police station late at night. According to sources in the police,his family members received a call from the kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs 15 lakh. Manna,too,was reportedly made to speak with his family members. Ajey Ranade,commissioner of Howrah Police commisionerate,said a missing complaint has been lodged in this regard.
Youth abducted
Kolkata:Amaresh Manna,a resident of Dalimbo Chowk,Haldia,under Bhabanipore PS,was abducted on Wednesday while he was returning from his workplace in Shibpur,Howrah.
The 28-year-old is an employee of the engineering department of one of the mobile service providers. His father had received ransom calls demanding Rs 14 lakh initially and sources said that on Friday the amount was negotiated to Rs 10 lakh. We have reports of him being missing and I have heard that his father has received ransom calls, said Bishwadeep Halder,OC,Bhabanipore PS.
