Adhir granted bail in two cases

Minister of State for Railways Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury was today granted bail in two cases — the Behrampore District Magistrate’s bungalow attack case and the election code violation case.

While the police had filed a suo motu case against the minister for attack on the DM’s bungalow,Humayun Kabir,the TMC MLA from Rejinagar,had filed three complaints against Adhir for his “provocative speech” during the Shaktipur Panchayat election with an aim to influence voters.

Besides being charged under sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide),323 (voluntarily causing hurt),324,325 and 353 of the Indian Penal Code,the state railway minister was slapped section 171 F (undue influence or personation at an election) at the Shaktipur police station on July 22,23 and August 2.
