The Capitals residents took to the streets yet again on Thursday to protest the lack of water and electricity supply.
In South Delhis Malviya Nagar,an irate mob stormed the BSES office in the dead of night,manhandled the night operator and damaged the office.
An official of the BSES said a load shedding had occurred after 11 pm. This was not the first one of the day and after repeated phone calls to the night operator,people assembled outside the office.
The night operator,Dinesh,was alone in the office at the time. The mob stormed in and manhandled him,forcing him to flee. Then they went on to smash the windows,throw down a cooler and a computer and puncture the tyres of two bicycles. A bystander called Police Control Room. By the time the police arrived,the mob had dispersed.
Officers at the Malviya Nagar police station said the BSES is yet to file a written complaint. Confirming that the attack did occur,a BSES spokesperson,however,said they have informed the necessary authorities.
Another locality in South Delhi saw protests over water supply. In Khanpur,shouting anti-Jal Board slogans,about 70 residents blocked the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road for at least a half-hour,claiming that they did not get their days supply. The incident was reported around 11 am.
These are not isolated incidents. On Wednesday,four protests were held in different parts of the city over power and water shortage.
In south-east Delhis Ambedkar Nagar,protestors pelted stones at four passing buses,damaging them. They were protesting against the power cuts. In parts of East Delhi and South Delhi,the residents had protested against water shortage.
