Teenager raped by 12-year-old
A 12-year-old boy allegedly raped a 14-year-old girl in Tilak Marg area of the New Delhi district. The police said the incident occurred when the victim was alone at her home. The accused is reportedly her neighbour. The police said the victim had approached the Tilak Marg police staton along with her parents on Wednesday evening. She was sent for a medical examination in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. The examination confirmed rape,after which we lodged a case and arrested the accused boy. The accused has been sent to a child observation home, said a senior police officer. The police officer said the victim lives in the helps quarters on Bhagwan Das Road. Her mother works at the residence of an IAS officer.
More counters to register property in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Complying with the orders of Financial Commissioner of Revenue department,the Gurgaon district administration has set up five additional counters for registering the sale deeds of immovable property. To make the system operational,powers to register sale deeds have been given to three more Naib Tehsildars in Gurgaon tehsil. Deputy Commissioner Rajender Kataria said: At least three counters will be operational daily. People can get the copy of the registered sale deed on the same day.
Local Area Planning for all MCD wards
For the first time in Delhi,Local Area Planning is being undertaken in all MCD wards,L-G Tejendra Khanna told the Delhi
Development Authority’s Advisory Council in a meeting on Tuesday. To prepare these plans,the views of MLAs,councillors,resident welfare associations,and social activists will be taken to decide on issues such as land use for facilities like parking,community halls,etc. The issue of professional management of the greening of the Yamuna bed project and the slow pace of the in-situ slum rehabilitations were also discussed.
Survey to identify homeless people
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will flag off a two-months-long survey on Friday to identify the exact number of homeless people in Delhi. The survey is funded by United Nations Development Project. To avoid duplication,the surveyors will take photographs,put election ink on the fingers of the homeless and will also issue ID cards. The last survey done by Indo-Global Social Service Society,an NGO,in 2008 had estimated around 90,000 homeless people in the city.
Lawyer robbed of Rs 10 lakh in East Delhi
An advocate,who had contested 2008 Delhi Assembly elections,was robbed of Rs 10 lakh outside his house in East Delhi on Thursday. Chaman Lal Yadav (66),resident of Bholanath Nagar,had just stepped out of his car near his house when two motorcycle-borne youths snatched his bag and fled.
Court begins daily hearings in Saini trial
In order to speed up the trial against Sumedh Singh Saini,director of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau who is accused of masterminding the abduction and murder of three persons 16 years ago,a Delhi court on Thursday started the day-to-day hearing in the case. Additional Sessions Judge Poonam Chaudhary recorded the statement of 91-year-old Amar Kaur,the first prosecution witness in the case relating to the disappearance of her son Vinod Kumar and son-in-law Ashok Kumar. On May 24,the Delhi High Court had directed the trial court to record and complete evidence of witnesses in the case expeditiously.
Bomb hoax: Man held
The man who had made hoax calls about bomb explosions in two city markets on June 12 and 22,was arrested on Thursday,said the police. The arrested has been identified as Mahender Choudhary,who resides in a slum cluster in South Delhis R K Puram,police added. The accused told the police that he made the hoax calls under the influence of liquor,claimed the police.
