Time for New

It’s common knowledge but seldom put in words — Chandigarh is akin to a spoilt, elder sibling (among Panchkula and Mohali) that gets everything first, especially when it comes to hospitality hubs. From five-star properties to fine diners, the city now has enough choices. The same is not true for its cousin Mohali that shares the suburbs with it. Known more for its motels and dhabas,Mohali seems to have shifted gears on the urbanisation track. Which is why a boutique hotel — Hotel Cama in Phase 3A — with a 24-hour coffee shop makes it worth a look.

The location is favourable, given the proximity to Chandigarh and the fact that it houses ‘Conversations 24/7’,a cafe that will be open round-the-clock. It’s something Mohali has missed so far. The cafe, housed on the ground floor, has no defining theme but plenty of plush sofas to lounge around. The menu is not lean and packs in mostly Continental fare with dishes that are easily available elsewhere, like pizzas, pastas, salads, sandwiches, cappuccino andlattes. “Residents of Mohali had no option till now when it came to venturing out at night with friends and family. We not only want to offer a quality option but also hope that this would be the first step towards introducing a night culture in the city that is at par with others in the vicinity,” remarked Singh.

More than luxurious, the hotel looks comfortable, contemporary and spiffy. It also houses PunChin,a huge Indo-Chinese restaurant,in the basement.
