Panjab University invites applications for BSc and MSc in Physics,Electronics and Geography

Applications invited for admission to BSc (Hons School) and MSc (Hons School) in Physics and Electronics

Applications are invited for admission to the self-financed courses of BSc (Hons School) and MSc (Hons School) in Physics and Electronics (23+3 NRI seats in each course) for academic session 2011-12. Admission to both the courses will be on merit-basis only. Applications along with details marks sheet must reach the Department of Physics by July 11,2011 for BSc (Hons School) and July 8,2011 for MSc (Hons School). For details see PU website http://www.puchd.ac.in. Application forms are available at PU Office or can be downloaded from the University website. The interview date for these courses will be intimated later through the PU website only,Dr Veerpal Singh,Professor and Officiating Chairman,Department of Physics informed.

Dept of Geography

Department of Geography,Panjab University,announced the admission schedule and admission criteria for the session 2011-12 for the following courses:

MA (Geography)

Department of Geography has 51 seats in Semester I. In addition,there are 7 seats for foreign/ NRI students. Students having 50 per cent marks in BA/BSc aggregate and 45 per cent marks in Geography are eligible for an admission test to be held on July 8,2011 at 11.00 am in the department of Geography. The admission is based on admission test (40 per cent) and academic merit (60 per cent). Candidates must secure at least 45per cent marks in the admission test. Those who qualify the admission test will be invited to appear for an interview and verification of certificates. Based on the marks scored in admission test and the academic merit,the final list of selected candidates shall be displayed on July 20,2011 at 3.00 pm.

Masters in Disaster Management

Department of Geography has 25 seats in Semester I. In addition,there are three seats for candidates sponsored by government/institutes. Students having 50 per cent marks at Graduation (aggregate) in any discipline are eligible for admission test to be held on July 7 at 10.00 am in the department of Geography. The admission is based on admission test (40 per cent) and academic merit (60 per cent). Candidates must secure at least 50 per cent marks in the admission test. Those who qualify the admission test will be invited to appear for interview and verification of certificates. Based on the marks scored in admission test and the academic merit,the final list of selected candidates shall be displayed on July 21 at 3.00 pm.

Masters in Remote Sensing and GIS

Department of Geography has 25 seats in Semester I for this course. In addition,there are three seats for candidates sponsored by government/institutes. Students who have done BA/BSc with Geography are eligible for this course. The aggregate score in BA/BSc must be 50 per cent and in Geography 45 per cent. The admission test will be held on July 7 at 2.00 pm in the department of Geography. The admission is based on admission test (40 per cent) and academic merit (60 per cent). Candidates must secure at least 50 per cent marks in the admission test. Those who qualify the admission test will be invited to appear for interview and verification of certificates. Based on the marks scored in admission test and the academic merit,the final list of selected candidates shall be displayed on July 21 at 3.00 pm.
