With so many dignitaries reaching Mohali to watch the biggest extravaganza of cricket on March 30,hospitals in the city have been put on high alert.
Authorities at the PGI held a series of meetings throughout the day to ensure that the hospital was adequately equipped if any emergency happened during or after the match.
To meet any emergency, rosters have been changed and all those involved with patient care, right from operation theatre technicians to nursing staff and even senior most doctors and surgeons will be physically present in the hospital till late in the night, even after the match gets over.
Special monitoring teams have been constituted drawing doctors from different departments so that nothing is left to chance. The PGI administration will work in close coordination with UT officials to keep a tab on the situation besides coordinating with GMSH-16 and GMCH 32, said a senior doctor at PGI.
An official circular to this effect was sent on Monday to all clinical and diagnostic and supportive departments, including orthopaedics, neurosurgery, anaesthesia and general surgery, besides others,to stay on alert.
An operation theatre in the PGI,special wards,ICU beds and two VIP rooms have been already blocked for the VVIPs if need be.
