What’s common between Sonu Sood and Neha Dhupia is that they are both Punjabis. But what differentiates them clearly is Sonus obvious command of the Punjabi language while Nehas painful struggle to utter a few sentences,as Sonu describes it,would make a linguist doubt himself. Whats also common between them is that they are both lead actors in the upcoming movie Maximum, for whose promotion they were in the city on Monday.
Both of them agree that they enjoyed shooting the movie because Sonus favourite genre is action and Nehas is drama, and they each have roles that justify their preferences. Directed by Kabeer Kaushik, the movie is set in Mumbai of 2003 when the underworld had an open war and there were power struggles amongst policemen.
The film is a cop drama with an undercurrent of action and not downright violence scenes with unbelievable cop-fighting-ten-goons sequences, says Sonu. In the movie,Sonu and Naseeruddin Shah play cops while Arshad Warsi is an encounter specialist. Neha Dhupia will be seen in the role of a housewife and her character brings across the emotional side to the cop vs cop revenge story.
The film has six songs and five music directors, including a Pakistani band Raga boyz, who have composed a song man qonto maula, which although differs from the original qawwali written by Hazrat Amir Khusrau,is Nehas favourite song in the movie.
My favourite sequence in the movie is when I had to yell at Sonu and I made sure I did eight retakes for the same, says Neha.
Sonu, who has taken inspiration from real life cops for the movie, says his favourite part of the movie is its climax, where he is required to run along a speeding train. Hailing from Moga,Sonu says he likes coming back to Punjab to recharge his batteries and enjoy his favourite dish sarson ka saag.
