Wrong number again; MTNL messes up bill

MUMBAI, Jan 11: At a time when complaints galore about excess phone bills, some running even into several lakh rupees, one particular subscriber got a telephone bill which might pose a challenge even to mathematicians.

The bill received by one Prabhakar Joglekar of Pune warns him to pay the bill of Rs Zero by January 20 or face fine and disconnection.

It has left Joglekar in a fix as to how to pay the bill to avoid disconnection. Since Joglekar was out of Pune for two months, the bill mentioned only three calls, but no rental.

Inquiries revealed programming lapse8217; on the part of the private firm given the task of preparing the bills.
