Suspension of talks helped non-state actors: Gilani

PM Yousaf Raza Gilani on Monday held the suspension of dialogue between India and Pakistan responsible for enabling non-state actors to influence the relationship between the neighbours. Reiterating Pakistans desire for the negotiated and peaceful resolution of all disputes with India,Gilani said: By suspending composite dialogue following the Mumbai attacks in November 2008,non-state actors succeeded in dictating their agenda. He made the remarks while addressing a gathering of top Army officials at the Command and Staff College in Quetta.

ANP wants crackdown on terror camps

The Awami National Party ANP,part of Pakistans ruling coalition,has called for a crackdown on Muridke township in Punjab,where the headquarters of Hafiz Saeeds Jamaat-ud-Dawa is located,as part of efforts to eliminate terrorist camps. ANP has accused the Punjabi Taliban and other religious extremist organisations based in Punjab of carrying out terrorist attacks across Pakistan. They demanded military action in southern Punjab and a crackdown on Muridke.
