the former US vice president and Nobel Peace Prize winner,will write a new book about what he calls the drivers of global change, that connects the dots among social,economic and political forces shaping our times,Random House Publishing group said on Tuesday. The book,which is planned for release next year and does not yet have a title,is the first acquisition for the publishing house by Jon Meacham,who was named as an executive vice president at the Random House Publishing Group in January. Meacham,said in a telephone interview that Al-Gores best-selling books An Inconvenient Truth and The Assault on Reason had established him as an author who has been early and right on anticipating global trends.

Raymond Chow,

the veteran Hong Kong producer who introduced Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan to an international audience,will be honoured for lifetime achievement at the fifth Asian Film Awards ceremony on Monday. Organisers of the Hong Kong event said Friday that the 83-year-old filmmaker was instrumental in making Asian cinema the global cinematic and box office force it is today. Chow worked at the famed Shaw Brothers studios before leaving to found Golden Harvest in 1970. The breakaway company jump-started Lees career with hits like Fist of Fury and Enter the Dragon.

Kevin Costner,

the star of Field of Dreams,and The Untouchables,will play Jonathan Kent,one of the two human parents who take in the Kryptonian baby Kal-El and raise him as their son,Clark,in the new Superman movie being prepared by the director Zack Snyder. It was previously announced that Henry Cavill of The Tudors will play Superman and Diane Lane will play Jonathans wife,Martha,Warner Brothers Pictures announced on Thursday evening. In a statement,Snyder said,Jonathan Kent is the only father figure Clark has ever had,the man who was there to help Clark understand what he was meant to do in the world as Superman. His Superman film is planned for release next year.
