Pinjore MC poll stayed

CHANDIGARH, MARCH 1: Election 1to the post of the president and the vice-president of the Pinjore Municipal Council, slated to be held this afternoon, was stayed by a division bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court here.

Pronouncing the order today, the bench, comprising Justice R.S. Mongia and Justice V.M. Jain, observed: quot;In case the writ petition is to be allowed, naturally there will be a contest by actual voting between the petitioner Kanwarjit Singh and respondent number four and in that eventuality, either of them can become a municipal councillor and can be a contestant for the posts of the president and the vice-president as well as be a voterquot;.Directing the listing of the main writ petition on March 8, the bench also ordered that the elections would not be held till further orders.
