CHANDIGARH, April 6: UT Civil Judge (Senior division) H.S. Madaan issued notice for April 15 to Union of India through secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, secretary, Ministry of Sports and Cultural Affairs and Board of Cricket Control (Mumbai) in a civil suit filed in the court here today.
In his petition, Ashok Sehgal asked the court to direct the defendants to arrange for individual police protection for all cricketers who have been selected to play the forthcoming World Cup in England. He mentioned in his petition that a team of 15 and a coach had already been selected by BCCI.
He stated that the World Cup will be hotly contested by different countries and it’s important to give security to the cricketers when they play the match and also when they are at home. It was added that this precaution must be taken considering that in the past some elements have attacked the office of BCCI at Mumbai.
