
Suburban services on the Central Railway CR were disrupted on Friday evening following a point failure near Vikhroli railway station. According to railway police, the point failure occured at about 4 pm and was set right only at 5 pm. following which three railway lines were non-operational, thus throwing the rail schedule out of gear. Outstation trains were diverted on the fourth fast track, causing delays. Locals were running at least 25 minutes late till late evening.
WR Virar office
The Western Railway opened a new computerised passenger reservation office at Virar from Friday. The office will have three counters linked with the Mumbai Central reservation office. It will be operated in two shifts 8211; 8 am-2pm and 2pm-8pm from Monday to Saturday. On Sunday it will be open between 8 am and 2 pm. The counter will soon be linked to Delhi and Secunderabad offices for easy reservations for these sectors, a spokesman said.
Rail block
The CR is operating a night block at Khargar station on the harbour line on December 20/21, 1997 for laying new diversion. There will be no suburban services from 11.30 pm on Saturday to 5.45 am on Sunday between Belapur and Khandeshwar stations. However, extra special ST buses have been arranged between the two stations for late night and early morning passengers.
CR decoy check
In a decory check, the Central Railway vigilance branch seized 55 reserved tickets worth Rs 35,452 and cash worth Rs 13,410 during a raid on an unauthorised travel agent Deepali Travels on Wednesday. The raid also yielded reservation forms and other incriminating documents . The firm8217;s manager Arvind Thakkar will be prosecuted.
