I have no resentment towards Angelina Jolie: Winona Ryder

Winona Ryder who starred alongside Angelina Jolie in ‘Girl Interrupted’,says that she does not resent the success achieved by Jolie, who won an Oscar for her supporting role in the film.
Ryder, who was the central character in the film and also its executive producer, failed to gain any professional mileage from the movie while it catapulted Jolie to A-list status.
“I knew from the outset that whoever played Lisa was going to get all the attention,” Ryder told Empire magazine.
“At one point they asked if I wanted to play Lisa and I said,’No,I want to be Susanna’. But there was no resentment. When it came out, people almost felt bad for me.
But I expected it all along. I was really happy with the film, and really proud of it,” said Ryder whose career had gradually diminished after the film.
However the 38-year-old actress who recently made a comeback with ‘Star Trek’,says she had at that point felt bad for Jolie.
“At the time I worked with her,she was battling her looks because she’s so beautiful. She wanted very much to be taken seriously and not just judged on her looks. And she conquered that.”
Ryder also confirmed a sequel is in the works to her 1988 cult film ‘Heathers’.
