Vertical limit
Three mountaineers from the city successfully undertook an expedition to the Maitri Glacier in the Gangotri region recently and reached upto a height of 19,200 feet. Rajiv Baheti,Sanjay Jandial and Abhijit,former Geology students of Nowrosjee Wadia College are the trio who achieved this feat. After facing many difficulties,the three Wadia alumni reached the Maitri Glacier,one of the most treacherous and established three camps on difficult terrain. They acheived this feat under the guidance of Dr Dastane,director,Neville Wadia Institue of Management. Dr Koregave,HOD of Geology Department at the Nowrosjee Wadia College gave them valuable guidance in planning the expedition.
My movie
Fireweavers is organising Meri Picture,a short film festival on October 24 at the Ambedkar Auditorium,near Sassoon Hospital,11.45 am onwards. This festival is the first-of-its-kind in Pune,where amateur filmmakers are encouraged to showcase their talents under the same roof. Its an opportunity not only to get your creative work screened and appreciated by live audience but to meet like-minded people from across the city. The duration of the film must be 1 min and 40 seconds,in any language. The short film festival will feature seven to eight movies and the best film will be decided by an audience poll.

Dhol-Taasha,a book on the recently-held State Assembly Elections 2009,written and published by Deepak Bidkar was released by Avinash Dharmadhikari,former bureaucrat and founder of Chanakya Mandal at the Patrakar Bhavan,Navi Peth. This book,which will be first-of-its-kind in Maharashtra,will retrospect and comment on the State Assembly Election Campaign, says Deepak Bidkar,director,Prabodhan Madhyam Prakashan. He adds,The book explores the different aspects of an election campaign in a humorous way. While P A Inamdar,president,Maharashtra Cosmopolitan Education Society,presided over the function,Dilip Kamble,former Minister of State,Varsha Madgulkar,advocate and Yogesh Kute were chief guests at the event.
