Actor Inder Kumar arrested, booked for rape, assault

As per case details, the complainant was introduced to Kumar at a party about three months ago. Both subsequently became friends and Kumar allegedly promised to get her a lead role in a movie starring Salman Khan.

According to police, the woman came to the police station along with her elder sister and the sister’s colleague. She told police that Kumar had a fight with his wife on Thursday, after which he turned up at her house in Four Bungalows area, asking her to spend time with him as he felt lonely. She agreed and went to his house at Shanti Niketan building in Seven Bungalows, Andheri (West), where he raped and assaulted her.

Kumar, who has acted in films like Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi, Tumko na Bhool Payenge and other films starring Salman Khan, stays in a sixth-floor flat in the the building, while his wife stays in the same building on another floor.

A day earlier, Kumar and his wife allegedly had a fight while the complainant was at his residence. Kumar’s wife approached the police on Wednesday alleging he had assaulted her.
The complainant, however, told the police Friday that she was forced to lie to the police earlier when she denied any incident of assault as alleged by Kumar’s wife. She told the police she lied since Kumar had threatened to kill her if she failed to speak in his favour before the police.

After the Thursday’s incident, Kumar dropped her home and headed back to Versova before going back to her at night.

“At night, he took me to his house and began threatening me again. He then broke a beer bottle and sexually assaulted me. He attacked me on my stomach and hands before raping me. He left me in a wounded condition on the floor,” said the victim in her statement to the police.

“When I regained consciousness, I called up my sister. She told me to gather myself and leave the house. I got down from the building where my sister was waiting for me and brought me to the police station,” said the complainant.

The woman alleged that Kumar had also raped her in her house seven days ago, but she did not approach police since he had threatened her with dire consequences.

The woman, who had injuries on her body, has been taken to Cooper Hospital.

“We have registered a case of rape, assault and criminal intimidation against Kumar and arrested him. The woman is recuperating at Cooper Hospital in Vile Parle,” V Harishchandra Parmale, senior inspector of Versova police station, said.
