Gang of burglars arrested in Noida
GREATER NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: The Greater Noida police arrested a gang of five men late on Sunday night for its alleged involvement in five burglary cases in Gautam Budh Nagar and nearby districts. The men were identified as Harish alias Bhure,Kartar,Pradeep,Manoj and Adesh. The arrests were made after they opened fire at the police personnel at a checkpost. “They were travelling in a Maruti,” said Surendra Verma,Superintendent of Police (Rural). “At the checkpost near Atta village,the car did not stop and the men sitting inside opened fire on the police. Soon,all nearby police stations were alerted and car was chased.” The gang leader,Harish,owns two medical stores in his village — Ghanghola — in Greater Noida. The other accused belong to Greater Noida and Bulandshahr. Twelve mobile phones,a Chinese-made pistol,a gold chain,a gold ring and Rs 1 lakh in cash from them. The gang robbed Rs 30,000 from a businessman in Greater Noida in December,Verma said.

Out on nude walk,Austrian assaulted
LUCKNOW: An Austrian national was assaulted by the locals on Sunday evening when he was caught roaming in the nude at the Aurangabad crossing of Sadar Bazar,Mathura. Medical examination confirmed that he was under the influence of drugs.
Berstch Maria (25) had come to Mathura three days ago and was staying at Hotel Brijwasi Royal,said B D Paulson,SSP,Mathura.
Earlier during the day,he was caught walking nude in the hotel corridor. The staff then packed him off to the railway station. He,however,again removed his clothes and was walking back to the hotel when he was attacked. Paulson said a team took him to Delhi on Monday and handed him over to his friends. The police have also talked to Maria’s father in Austria,who confirmed his addiction. The Austrian Embassy has been informed and a report is being sent requesting that he be sent back to his country.
