Politics? Nah,Im here to meet my fans, cheers Sunny Deol,in town
His co-workers beat their drums like town criers, flashed every 30 seconds on the screen and strongly urged a sleeping nation to get up and vote. Ironically, they forgot to set their own alarm bells and slept through the D-Day! In the meanwhile,Sunny Deol got up,drove to the polling station, cast his vote and quietly drove back. You dont need to tell the world, youve just got to do it, it sure was a Sunny day. The actor was here in Punjab doing road shows along with yesteryears actor Jeetindra for BJPs candidate Satya Pal Jain. After doing hectic back to back rounds at Bathinda,Ludhiana and Faridkot,Sunny stopped over at The Taj Chandigarh for a quick breakfast meet before leaving for Mumbai. I cant understand why in spite of the massive awareness movements this year,Mumbai had low voter turnout…guess hype doesnt always work, Sunny clears the air by saying hes not interested in politics. I dont even know whats going on,and I never even bother to switch channels to keep abreast with it. But what I do know is that this is a beautiful country,a heaven on earth, and we cant let a bunch of politicians mess around with it and sell it for their benefit. We need to focus on the real issues,on development and this is why we need to cast our precious vote, he shows his mark. As for papa Dharamendra,Sunny says hes had enough of politics. Then why campaign? Well,Im shooting most of the time, and this is the only break we get to meet and interact with our fans, he reasons. Punjab, for Sunny,is home. Its in my blood, and I feel duty-bound to visit this place and my people, Sunny bids adieu and leaves for tinsel town, back to his projects, direction and production.
