With some fine performances in the junior circuit,Sumit Pal Singh has been turning with heads with his rich talent. On Tuesday,the young lad,who hails from Jammu and Kashmir,was virtually unstoppable during his 6-1,6-4 win over Nirbhay Singh that sent the second seeded player tumbling out of the boys’ Under-16 category in the AITA Talent Series Tennis Tournament being held at CLTA Complex,Sector 10. Sumit was in sublime form as he took the first set 6-1 before he rallied to secure the second set 6-4 to make his way into the quarter-finals.
Meanwhile,fourth seed Sabrina Gill scored a thrilling 6-2,2-6,6-3 win over Priya Singh of Rajasthan in the girls’ U-16 category. After winning the first set at 6-2,Sabrina lost the plot in second and lost by 2-6 but she showed trememdous fightback to claim the final set by 6-3. Similarly,Aditya Sharma of Rajasthan got the better of Calvin Golmei 4-1,4-5(3),4-2 in the boys’ Under-12 category. Second seed Param Pun faced some resistance from his opponent Rohit Kumar but he eventually won 4-2,5-4(1).
