An executive engineer of the Haryana Public Works (building and roads),Panchkula,Rajesh Kumar,was caught red-handed by the Vigilance Department while he was accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against Kumar,who would be produced in court on Wednesday.
Police sources said a complaint was lodged by a contractor,Rajesh Chaudhary,of Baltana alleging that the executive engineer was demanding a bribe for releasing the payment of his pending bills worth nearly Rs 3 lakh.

After the complaint,a trap was laid and the officer was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at his office near Majri chowk. He was arrested immediately, police said.
