While we are yet to check out his culinary skills,Star Plus is positive he won’t go wrong in the kitchen.

While we are yet to check out his culinary skills,Star Plus is positive he won’t go wrong in the kitchen. After hosting an on-the-edge Khatron Ke Khiladi for Colors,Akshay Kumar, known for his martial arts and passion for parkour, will be soon playing with fire (literally) on Indian television. Come October, the channel will dish out MasterChef India. For the record,MasterChef has already broken records in UK and Australia.

“Along with spices, condiments, veggies and meat, the show will have top chefs as judges,a dash of drama and a secret ingredient of novelty,” says Anupam Vasudev, executive vice president,Marketing and Communications,Star India. Participants will be cooking under pressure, judged by celebrity cooks/guests involving cooking challenges beyond the kitchen. The show will identify 12 contestants who will compete with each other, while chefs Kunal Kapoor and Ajay Chopra will judge the show with Kumar. The contender who will able to perform under the mounting pressure will in the end be adjudged as India’s first ever ‘MasterChef’.

“You’ll see amateur cooks catering to a big fat Indian wedding, whipping up recipes in minutes or cooking for a langar. The best part is I am returning to do something I love. These are my roots and my two favorites — cooking and camera/entertainment,” says Kumar. The show starts October 16,9 pm on Star Plus.
