Politicians condemn Jadavpur University protest

New Delhi/Mumbai, Feb 17 (ANI): Condemning the protests in Jadavpur University, Kolkata, Congress leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday said strict actions should be taken against people involved in anti-national activities but sedition charges should not be put against them as it fulfils their aspirations of gaining popularity. Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Majid Memon also condemned the protests in educational institutions. Meanwhile, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi emphasised on the need for the Jadavpur University students to come forward and identify the anti-social elements prevalent in the campus.

West Bengal becoming safe haven for bomb-makers: BJP

New Delhi, Jan 22 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Siddharth Nath Singh on Friday said West Bengal is becoming a safe haven for bomb makers under Mamata Banerjee's leadership. Reacting to the Birbhum blast, another BJP leader Sambit Patra accused Banerjee of misgovernance and encouraging illegal activities.

Security beefed up at Ardh Kumbh

Haridwar, Jan 21 (ANI): Security has been beefed up at the Ardh Kumbh Mela in Varanasi after four suspected terrorists who were allegedly planning to launch an attack at the mela were nabbed on Wednesday. Thousands of Hindu devotees are seen thronging banks of Ganga. The police are using latest technology and equipments to monitor the activities in Haridwar. Meanwhile, a suspicious bag has been found at Haridwar Railway Station gate and is being inspected by the police.
