A blast took place outside Mysuru Amba Vilas Palace Thursday, killing one person and injuring several others.
Police suspect that a cylinder used to fill balloons exploded, resulting in the tragedy.
According to police, the accident happened near the entrance of the Karnataka Exhibition Authority.
A large number of people had gathered for the exhibition due to Christmas vacation, police said.
Built and renovated over five centuries, the Mysore Palace, official abode of the Wadiyar dynasty of the erstwhile kingdom of Mysore is one of the grandest and most popular public attractions in India.
