Nepal: Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 hits region

Nepal earthquake: It struck in the morning at 5:05 am.

Nepal was struck on Monday by an earthquake measuring 5.5 on Richter Scale, according to National Centre for Seismology. The earthquake hit the region at 5:05 am in the morning.  The epicenter of earthquake is the border of Ramechhap and Solukhumbu districts, 131 km from Kathmandu

There are no reports of damage or loss of life yet.

In Kathmandu, residents fled their houses after they were awoken by the pre-dawn earthquake. People ran out of their houses into the streets, but there were no disruptions in power or telephone services.

On April 25, 2015, the country was hit by a major earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter Scale. This natural calamity had resulted in the death of 9000 people and injured 22,000 others. A major aftershock also hit on May 12, 2015 measuring 7.3 on the Richter Scale.
