DGCA Gives 24-hour extension to IndiGo: Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers and the airline’s accountable manager and chief operating officer Isidre Porqueras a one-time 24-hour extension to submit their responses to the show-cause notices issued on Saturday by the regulator on this week’s widespread operational disruptions. Responding to the notices on Sunday, Elbers and Porqueras sought time from the regulator at least till 6 pm Monday to provide a detailed response, it is learnt. Sources said that the DGCA is unlikely to provide any further extension.

IndiGo cancelled 400 flights: The airline cancelled over 400 flights from four major airports on Saturday, a day after managing to temporarily secure major relaxations in the second phase of the court-mandated new flight duty and rest period norms for the cockpit crew, sources said.

DTA issues advisory for commuters: The Delhi Airport Authority, on its X handle, posted an advisory for travellers at 10.15 am on saturday saying that while flight operations are now ‘steadily resuming and getting back to normalcy,’ some IndiGo flights continue to be affected and that passengers are advised to check the latest flight status with the airline before arriving at the airport.

SC declines urgent hearing on IndiGo cancellations, says Centre acting on situation

The Supreme Court on Monday refused an urgent hearing on a plea seeking intervention into IndiGo’s mass flight cancellations, saying the Centre has already stepped in to address the crisis.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, with Justice Joymalya Bagchi, acknowledged the scale of the disruption. “It is a serious matter. Lakhs of people are stranded at airports. We know the Government of India has taken timely action and cognizance of the issue,” the CJI said.

Seventy-six IndiGo flights were cancelled at the N S C Bose International Airport on Sunday, officials said.

Of the seventy-six IndiGo flights cancelled, 53 were departures and 23 were arrivals, they said.

"IndiGo Flights scheduled departures: 129, scheduled arrivals: 97; cancelled today, departures: 53, arrivals: 23," the Kolkata Airport said in its X handle on Sunday.

IndiGo had cancelled 41 flights—21 arrivals and 20 departures—on Saturday.

On Friday, IndiGo had cancelled 47 flights (arrival and departure) from Kolkata airport.

Several passengers said they faced "harassment" after reaching the airport following multiple reschedules.

"We planned to fly on Sunday to Mumbai, and our work was urgent. But after three reschedules, the flight was cancelled, and the next available ticket was three times the price of our old ticket," said a passenger.

IndiGo Flight Cancellations Live Updates: DGCA issues show cause notice to IndiGo CEO on flight disruptions

Aviation watchdog DGCA on Saturday issued a show cause notice to IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers seeking an explanation for the massive flight disruptions, according to sources.

For five days in a row, IndiGo has seen significant flight disruptions with hundreds of flight cancellations and delays, causing hardships to thousands of passengers.

In the notice, the regulator said the large-scale operational failures indicate significant lapses in planning, oversight and resource management, the sources said.
