Tamil cinematographer Priyan passes away, celebrities pour in condolences
Popular cinematographer passed away in Chennai today. He was director Hari's favourite cameraman. Barring Vengai, Priyan cranked the camera for all films helmed by Hari. He was also handling the camera for Hari's upcoming film Saamy Square, which has Vikram and Keerty Suresh in the lead roles.

In a sad news, popular cinematographer Priyan passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack at his residence in Chennai. He was 55. A native of Virudhunagar, he began his journey in the film industry by assisting legendary cinematographer-director Balu Mahendra.
He assisted Balu Mahendra in films like Moondram Pirai (1982), Olangal (1982), Sadma (1983) and Yathra (1984). His first film as a lead cinematographer was KS Adhiyaman’s Thotta Chinungi (1995) after which he collaborated with top filmmakers of Tamil cinema.
He was director Hari’s favourite cameraman. Barring Vengai, Priyan cranked the camera for all films helmed by Hari. He was also handling the camera for Hari’s upcoming film Saamy Square, which has Vikram and Keerty Suresh in the lead roles.
“Mere words cannot fully express the sorrow I feel after hearing about the sudden passing away of Priyan.. one of the sweetest people I have ever met in my life. It’s a huge loss for everyone who has been touched by this gentle person. May his soul rest in peace,” said Vikram in an Instagram post. He also deferred the title launch of his son’s Dhruv’s debut film, which is the remake of Telugu hit Arjun Reddy, as a mark of respect for Priyan.
“Heartbroken to know the demise of #Priyan Sir DOP ! Can’t express my grief in words. May your soul #RIP . Strength and power to his family,” tweeted Keerty mourning the death of Priyan.
“Kind, professional and extremely hard working cinematographer #Priyan is no more. Gone too soon. R.I.P sir. Deepest condolences to his kin,” tweeted actor Siddharth.
“It was a pleasure working with #cinematographer #Priyan Sir.. Passes away… one of the Nicest person… My Sincere Condolences and prayers to his Family… May his soul Rest In Peace,” tweeted singer-actor Krish.
