An Air India spokesperson on Wednesday said it has reported the incident to the police and regulatory authorities. The airline has set up an internal committee to look into the matter.
According to data compiled by the government-owned Airports Authority of India, the movement of private jets and helicopters showed a 16.5 per cent dip during April-November this year as compared to the same period last year.
The rise in numbers even led to complaints recently of key airports being choked, prompting an intervention by Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Government agencies during the second week of the month.
The statement added that the proposal, however, will go through stakeholder consultation and the final regulation shall be published and made applicable afterwards.
The amendment will allow the passenger, who is downgraded involuntarily from his booked class of ticket, to receive the full value of ticket including taxes as refund from the airline and the airline will carry the passenger free of cost in the next available class.
According to the internal communication, current AirAsia India CEO Sunil Bhaskaran will assume the leadership of a new initiative -- an aviation training academy.
The notice was issued by the government following representations received for clarity on norms for import of pets.
The final deal is expected to include 40 to 50 Max aircraft that were built for Chinese carriers but never delivered due to an extended grounding of the US jet and heightened trade tensions, some of the people said, asking not to be identified because the discussions are confidential.

At the event for inaugurating Air India's direct flight from Mumbai to San Francisco, the Civil Aviation Minister said that discussions have happened with airlines and the effort is to make Delhi the country's first international hub.
The orders include as many as 400 narrow-body jets and 100 or more wide-bodies including Airbus A350s and Boeing 787s and 777s.
Sources said the airline is either delaying departures or cancelling some of its ultra long haul flights amid cabin crew shortages and the situation is resulting in inconvenience to passengers in this peak winter travel season.
The refurbishment will involve introduction of a premium economy cabin, it said in a statement, adding that the first aircraft with refurbished interiors will enter service in mid-2024.
This is the second announcement by the former flag carrier this year on aircraft leasing. It leased 30 aircraft earlier this year,including 21 Airbus A320, four Airbus A321 and five Boeing B777-200LR widebody aircraft.
