(AP Photo) US First Lady Melania Trump issued a stark warning on Friday on the usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools at a summit and said that millions of school children can unlock creativity through AI but it could also hijack their thinking if they become too much dependent on it.
During the webinar titled ‘AI for Tomorrow’s Leaders’ sponsored by Zoom, Melania addressed a nationwide audience of K-12 students and warned that children should avoid using AI as a quick solution. The First Lady reminded students that every great achievement in history came with human curiosity and not algorithms.
“Although artificial intelligence can generate images and information, only humans can generate meaning and purpose,” the first lady said, adding, “Choose to let your imagination drive your intellectual progress. But never use AI as a quick solution. Be intellectually honest with yourself – use AI as a tool – but do not let it replace your personal intelligence.”

The speech by Melania Trump, who is an advocate of AI use in K-12 education, is her latest effort to empower the next generation with the intersection of AI and education. Melania spoke remotely at the summit hosted by Zoom which said the discussion centred on how AI can be used responsibly.
Melania, adding to her remarks, said “The Age of Imagination is a new era, powered by artificial intelligence, where one’s curiosity can be satisfied almost magically, in seconds. You are fortunate to have the capability to fulfill your dreams through the power of learning, with AI serving as the primary engine for creative exploration.”
Zoom’s CEO and Founder Eric Yuan, who was also part of the summit, said artificial intelligence has changed the way people learn, connect and work every day. Yuan added, “That’s why it’s so important to help students and educators build AI literacy and feel confident using these tools in thoughtful, creative, and ethical ways.”
