Anti-farmer policies of Congress, AAP have turned ‘Rangla Punjab’ into ‘Kangla Punjab’: Saini

Nayab Singh Saini said this growing concern among the people is the reason they have now made up their minds that Punjab’s development is possible only under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the sharp increase in public capital expenditure, Saini said the allocation of nearly Rs. 12.2 lakh crore for infrastructure will strengthen roads, railways, urban infrastructure, industrial corridors and logistics systems across the country.Haryana CM Saini said the allocation of nearly Rs. 12.2 lakh crore for infrastructure will strengthen roads, railways, urban infrastructure, industrial corridors and logistics systems across the country. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that their anti-farmer and anti-people welfare policies have pushed Punjab into a deep crisis and turned the once-prosperous state from “Rangla Punjab” into “Kangla Punjab”. Interacting with mediapersons at Haryana Niwas, he said both parties were only interested in enjoying power and personal gains, with no concern for public welfare. He added that Punjab has fallen far behind on the development front and people are deeply worried about the state’s future.

Saini said this growing concern among the people is the reason they have now made up their minds that Punjab’s development is possible only under the leadership of Prime Minister   Narendra Modi. Responding to a question, he remarked that the Congress was responsible for pushing Punjab to the margins, while the AAP crossed all limits of governance. He alleged that AAP has gone even four steps ahead of the Congress in matters of public exploitation and corruption and said that both parties have jointly exploited farmers for political gain.

Referring to former Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister said that when Kejriwal was in power in Delhi, he repeatedly blamed farmers of Punjab and Haryana for pollution in the national capital. Despite the AAP being in power in Punjab for the last four years, he said neither Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann nor Arvind Kejriwal has taken any concrete steps for the welfare of farmers.

Taking a dig at both Mann and Kejriwal, the Haryana CM said, “One cracks jokes, the other listens. Neither of them has any concern for farmers.”

He further said that Kejriwal insulted farmers of Haryana and Punjab over the issue of stubble burning, while the BJP government in Haryana has put in place a proper system to resolve the problem so that farmers are not forced to burn crop residue. Questioning Kejriwal, he asked him to explain what steps have been taken for farmers in Punjab, adding that farmers there have received no benefits and have only been insulted and defamed.

Referring to the recent floods in Punjab, the Chief Minister said the Punjab government made tall claims during the disaster. He pointed out that Mann even publicly announced compensation for poultry losses, but “nothing was actually delivered on the ground”. He said that while Mann spoke about providing compensation of Rs 20,000 per acre, Kejriwal later claimed in Gujarat that compensation of Rs 50,000 per acre had been given in Punjab, questioning who pocketed the remaining Rs 30,000 and highlighting the contradiction and lack of transparency.

Saini said the Congress ruled the country for 55 years but failed to do anything meaningful for farmers and asserted that the present condition of farmers is the result of the Congress’s policies.

Targeting both the Congress and the AAP, he said that although the two parties claim to be political rivals, they enter into mutual understandings whenever it suits their interests.

Responding to questions about his frequent visits to Punjab, the Chief Minister said, “I am an ordinary party worker,” and added that whatever responsibility the Bharatiya Janata Party assigns to him, he carries it out with full dedication and sincerity as a disciplined worker. He also said people from Punjab frequently meet him and often return only after fixing dates for programmes, reflecting growing public outreach and engagement.
